As I reflect on my journey from humble beginnings to a role in the football industry, I can't help but marvel at the twists and turns that brought me here says Harmindar with a slight smile on her face.
Growing up in England, football wasn't just a sport in my household—it was woven into the very fabric of our family life. My immigrant parents from Punjab, India, and Mombasa, Kenya instilled in me a deep love for the game from an early age. Together, we would gather around the television, cheering on our favorite teams creating memories and also being encouraged to go and play any sport on the field of grass right on our doorstep, that would shape my future.

But breaking into the football world as a woman wasn't easy. There was no pathway to follow. Despite the odds stacked against me, I refused to let them define my path. With grit and determination, I pushed forward, fueled by a burning desire to challenge stereotypes and make my mark in football's domain.
My journey truly began when I decided to pursue coaching. Despite lacking a background in football, my passion for the game drove me to seek opportunities within the industry. It was a process—a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. From taking courses to eventually landing a position at the FA, each step forward filled me with a sense of pride and accomplishment.
When asked about the changes needed in women's football, my answer is clear: perception. We need to break down stereotypes and provide equal opportunities for women to play and thrive in the sport. And we need more role models—women who can inspire the next generation of footballers to dream big and reach for the stars. Also to enjoy every step of the journey and use the setbacks as all part of the learning curve and journey.
Confidence, faith, belief and taking inspired action has been my greatest allies on this journey. Believing in myself and my abilities has opened doors and paved the way for success. I've been fortunate to have my voice heard, thanks in large part to the support of my family, friends and football network that I have built.
Looking ahead, I see a bright future for women in football. We're on the cusp of a historic moment where football can become a viable profession for countless women around the world. But to make this vision a reality, we must focus on grassroots development and ensure that all women have access to the beautiful game, free from societal pressures and constraints, and by listening to the girls and women voices at all times.

To all the women out there dreaming of a football career, I have a simple message: the most impossible is not impossible. With determination, resilience, enjoying the journey and unwavering belief in yourself, anything is achievable and have the belief to take inspired action to create the change you want to see and pave the way forward for the next generation.
